Chapter 1 An Old Friend Is Back

In Green City.

Bush Building.

In the office of the CEO.

Sitting beside the office table, Johnson Bush signed his signatures quickly. His handsome face looked too indifferent to others due to he kept a straight face all the time.

Imposing manner was exuded from him, warning others that's his territory.

The phone rang, he looked at the phone screen for a moment, and then picked up the phone to his ear.

"What's up?"

The two words were spoken from his mouth indifferently, without any emotion.

On the other end of the line, Jennifer Watson hesitated for a moment. Finally, she said, "Johnson, Sophie is back. She is in South Cemetery."

Silently, on the other end of the line. The speaker rang off before Jennifer spoke again.

The tension in the office was intensified. The nip had broken off with a snap, leaving a cut in the paper.

The deep and bottomless eyes twinkled with excitement. The surging emotions turned to calm after an instant.

Sophie Wood. Johnson's lips moved soundlessly and said the two words.

After three years, you finally came back.

At the gate of South Cemetery.

Turning around again, Sophie looked at the only gravestone not far away. With a heavier heart, she left the cemetery.

Preoccupied with too many problems, she walked with her head lowered so that she didn't notice a car was coming towards her at full speed when crossing the intersection. At such an urgent point, an arm of a mature male put around her waist with a strong power, and pulled her into an embrace tightly.

"Fuck! Are you blind? Sophie Wood!"

A familiar stern scold was heard when Sophie had not yet recovered from the fright. Mixed emotions flashed in her eyes. Her heart gave a flutter but she turned to calm in a moment.

She turned around and wrenched herself free from the embrace. Looking at the man standing beside her, she laughed in an air of indifference and said, "None of your business."

With a high-end bespoke suit, Johnson seemed taller and more handsome. The aloofness in his eyes, mercilessness showed in his handsome face, and indifference exuded from his bones made others want to keep a good distance from him.

"Stupid blind! You'll be killed by the car!"

Shit! This woman had become more sophistical than she was three years ago. He was enraged by her in such a short period of time.

Sophie didn't want to tangle with him, so she was going to leave. But her arms were grabbed by Johnson tightly.

"What? I saved you, don't you say 'thank you'"?

Sophie kept silent. Apparently, she didn't want to speak with Johnson. Ignored by the woman completely, Johnson flew into a fury.

"To my surprise, you dare go back to this city. I thought you dare not come back for your whole life."

"Dare not? Sorry, you are wrong."

Sophie said unconcernedly, trying to free herself from Johnson's hands. But Johnson strengthened the power he held her arms.

"How dare you? Sophie, we haven't met for three years. May I remind you how joyful you were when we had sex before?"

"Shut up! You shameless hooligan!"

In a second, a pink flush spread over Sophie's pretty face, without knowing whether she was ashamed or angry. Her wet eyes were full of anger, glaring at that shameless man fearlessly.

"Even if I shut up, the fact that you were my woman won't be changed. Sophie, you've been avoiding me for three years. That's enough. It's time to return what you owed me."

Chapter 2 Cannot Leave Green City

Suddenly, Johnson looked at Sophie with a severe countenance, his eyes gleaming. The strength holding her wrists increased again.

Sophie met his eyes composedly, and, in the calmest tone, asked, "Don't you really know whether I owe you or you owe me?"

Johnson was shocked by this rhetorical question. Gradually, all kinds of feelings well up in his heart, so complicated that nobody could understand him.

He pretended to meet Sophie's eyes indifferently, with fists hung beside the outside of thighs clenched uncontrollably, keeping calm as possible as he could.

"You hate me, but you cannot deny the fact that you were my woman! You cannot get rid of the marks I made on your body! Don't imagine that I don't know what are you thinking about! Sophie, that man still bears in your mind even if three years have passed. But, unfortunately, he is dead."

"Johnson Bush!"

Suddenly, she yelled, with a shrill voice.

The last word Sophie wanted to listen to was "death", let alone it was spoken by Johnson.

Tears were welling up in her eyes. Facing this scene, Johnson was regretted bitterly. He didn't want to get into a quarrel with her. He wanted to restart their relationship rather than falling into the awful way they got along with each other before.

Actually, he wanted to restore their relations. But he could not bear the fact that she was anxious about the other man. He was jealous, very jealous. That's the reason why he hurt her as long as he spoke with her.

"I..."

The woman was running away fast when Johnson wanted to say something. He stood there gazing at her receding figure.

His raising hand putting down slowly.

Forget it. There is ample time ahead. He could not push her too far.

Backing at home, Sophie sat on the sofa with a blank expression. Mixed emotions rose in her mind when she thought of the meeting with Johnson.

From the moment she decided to come back, she thought she might meet Johnson and what kind of emotion she would be when facing Johnson.

Hate? Love? Or resent?

She was a little confused herself. Maybe all these emotions were involved.

She may love Johnson before, but what happened later let her realize clearly that everything was false.

Once bitten, twice shy.

Sophie smiled bitterly. Luckily, she would not be faint-hearted when facing Johnson right now.

After that day meeting with Johnson, she was worried that Johnson would come to find her. Fortunately, she didn't run into him again. So, she was relaxed and planned to pack to leave.

Actually, she came back just for old friends.

The familiar ringtone rang.

Taking out the phone, Sophie saw the video call, smiling and answering, "Captain Branson, why do you call me at this time? That's not your style, Cap."

The man in the video was very handsome. He laughed heartily and said, "So you should be honored that I, Captain, can make a video call with you right now."

"Yes, you're right. I'm so honored."

Sophie laughed in a puckish way.

The man chuckled, and said in a normal voice, "my pretty fairy, you don't have to leave Green City in a hurry."

"Why?"

"Take it easy. Just listen to me. According to orders from higher authorities, you've been transferred to SWAT in Green City."

Sophie was a little annoyed and perplexed. She left Green City on purpose several years ago, but now, she has to stay here all the time.

With some reluctance she went on, "Is there no room for manoeuvre?

"No. You must check in at SWAT two days later."

"Um..."

Chapter 3 Moore and Henry

The news had not yet been accepted fully and she was asked to check in at SWAT. Sophie sighed deeply and asked, "Anyone else?"

"Me!"

"Um..."

All right, she knew it. In the three years, they had become the most unbreakable team in the world. How could it be possible that only she came back and he wouldn't!

Actually...

He could have done better, but he chose to keep her company. Sophie was very grateful to him, so she said, "Thank you! George."

"Don't be so serious. Your Boss is not used to it. Who are you? Give me my pretty fairy!"

George Branson pretended he was heart-broken, and called himself in a rude way.

Sophie was speechless for George's performance. She knew that she'd better not say these moving words to him.

"How about Moore and Henry?"

"They are well-behaved and have slept. They are very happy for they can see you soon, and they ask me to tell stories to them today. Sophie, don't push yourself too far."

George said seriously.

Actually, Sophie was the one George worried about most compared with the two children who were very sensible.

He knew Sophie's affairs clearly even though she never mentioned it in detail. He could easily get information about what he wanted to know.

"I'm OK. Oh, it seems that I need to find a big house since we'll stay here for a long time."

After all, there would be a lot of people living in it.

The present house was completely inadequate.

"You don't have to do it yourself. I'll send you the location later. It's getting late. Go to bed early. See you after two days."

No more words, George hung up the video call directly without giving Sophie a chance to refuse.

Sophie didn't know that, George was livid on the other end of the line, glaring at five bodyguards with fury, angrily rebuked, "Are you all trash? You cannot even trace two kids. Go and find them, or I'll take you all back to Branson's house."

"OK. Don't worry, young master. We'll do it at once."

Bodyguards immediately left in a panic, leaving George anxiously pacing back and forth. If Sophie knew he had no trace of her two children, surely, she would kill him with a sniper rifle.

"You two little ancestors! Where the hell have you two gone? Where should I go to find you? Green City is such a big city, and I cannot look for you by employing the police force," George thought.

Being utterly exhausted from anxiety, George had no a little bit of SWAT demeanor which was maintained well before.

In a villa, the two brats who were still wet behind the ears were doing something big unhurriedly.

Johnson Bush?

Henry stood beside Moore, who was crunching data on a computer.

"Brother, is Johnson really our dad?"

"Most likely."

Said Moore coldly.

Henry's eyes lit up when Moore answered him. Grabbing Moore's arm with his little fat hands, Henry said excitedly, "Brother, can we go to see our dad? We do have dad. Let's go to see him!"

Children would be in the company of their dads when going to the amusement park except he and Moore.

They had George, but their uncles said that George was not their biological dad. Although George told them he could be their biological dad, but Henry didn't know why George said that.

Henry was a little confused with these questions.

Moore instantly could tell that Henry must be thinking of something.

The page displayed on Moore's computer showed the information of some systems of the Bush Group.

A light of aggression came into Moore's eyes. However, Henry knew nothing but badgered Moore to find dad.

"Boy, do you really want to see him?"

"Yes!"

Henry nodded his head heavily.

So...

A smile of profound meaning appeared on Moore's delicate face.
